Dr. Alexa Torontow

Rooted in Baja’s Magic, Healing Through Naturopathic Medicine

For over a decade, Baja California Sur has been a sanctuary for Dr. Alexa Torontow. Originally from Canada, Alexa was first drawn to Cabo to visit her family. Over the years, however, this magical corner of the world became so much more—a place to heal, rest, and connect with herself and others on a deeper level.

Now based in Cabo once again, Alexa combines her passion for naturopathic medicine with the wisdom she’s gained from living in and being inspired by Baja’s natural rhythms.

A Love Letter to Cabo

When asked about her favorite spot in Baja, Alexa immediately names Santa Maria Beach. While it’s not a hidden gem, for her, it holds a special magic that reflects the healing energy of the Baja.

Cabo has been her personal retreat for years, but now it’s also the place where she brings her passion for naturopathic medicine to life, helping others navigate their own health journeys with care, intention, and empowerment.

Alexa’s journey to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor began with her own health challenges. In her early 20s, after coming off birth control, she lost her cycle for an entire year, experienced extreme fatigue, and battled persistent digestive issues. When conventional medicine offered no clear answers, she turned to a naturopath who transformed her life.

Through nutritional counseling, supplementation, acupuncture, and natural therapies, she regained her health within six months—emerging not only stronger but also deeply inspired to help others experience the same kind of transformation.

Now, Alexa’s practice focuses on root-cause health. She tailors each treatment to her patient’s unique needs, rejecting one-size-fits-all solutions in favor of empowered, individualized care. Her goal is not just to treat symptoms but to help her patients thrive physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Baja: A Teacher and Healer

For Alexa, Baja is more than a place—it’s a source of medicine in itself. The beauty of the land, the energy of the ocean, and the supportive community have had a profound impact on her personal and professional growth.

“The medicine of the Baja always reminds me to slow down, surrender, and trust the process that’s unfolding,” she shares.

Baja has been a backdrop to pivotal moments in Alexa’s life. It has been her refuge during burnout, a pause during major life transitions, and a place of deep nourishment. Now, it’s where she practices her craft, helping others experience transformation and healing.

A Day in the Life

Alexa’s days are a thoughtful blend of family, work, and connection to nature. Her mornings start with a moment of reflection and deep breathing, a practice that helps her stay intentional about her day. After a cup of dandelion tea and some time outdoors, she shifts into mom mode, getting her two daughters ready for school.

Her professional day is spent seeing patients, both in person and virtually, helping them uncover the root causes of their health concerns. In the afternoons, she reconnects with her daughters, often heading to the beach to swim or play before winding down with dinner and family time.

One of Alexa’s core philosophies is that health shouldn’t feel overwhelming. “Ask yourself if you can do it on your busiest day,” she advises. Instead of overloading with countless “health hacks,” she encourages finding simple, nourishing practices that make a meaningful impact.

Her approach to wellness is grounded in sustainability and empowerment, reminding people that small, consistent steps can lead to transformative change.
